In April 2009, Lima bore witness to the world’s largest ever cajón ensemble (a cajón is a box-shaped percussion instrument of Afro-Peruvian origin). Rafael Santa Cruz, one of Peru’s top cajón players, led the 1,050-strong band of percussion players. Talk about “raising the roof”!
