Iconic Design: Numi and the Stahl House

Step inside one of the most photographed homes in the world in Los Angeles, California. It was also the setting for Kohler’s launch for a new toilet line. But it gives a pretty brief/interesting history of the house as well as some stunning photos of the L.A. basin. What iconic homes have you visited?

Earlier this year, Kohler introduced the Numi toilet, the most advanced toilet we’ve ever created. It’s truly a stunning work of art and design, and this quickly led to a dilemma: where do we feature such a stylish toilet?

We searched the world for the most iconic places, from remote ruins to urban landmarks,  and finally settled on one of the most famous pieces of architecture in American history: the Case Study 22 House (aka Stahl House).

Set in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles, California, the Stahl house offers panoramic views of southern California, inspired by the owner Buck Stahl’s statement “I don’t care how you do it, there’s not going to be any walls in this wing.”

Built in 1959 by Pierre Koenig, the home was designed as part of Art & Architecture Magazine’s Case Study program which set out to develop affordable, modern houses from 1945…
