«…remember that you made the decision to move to a new country not just for the financial benefits, but also for the lifestyle! New culture and customs are things that take time to adjust to. Try not to judge, and allow yourself to absorb and take in your new surroundings.»

When we lived in Colombia, the friends with whom we lived were most helpful in helping us negotiate frustrating differences. Some, they would say, «That’s just the way we are. Here’s the equivalent of how your people are.» Other times they would say, «Yes, that frustrates us, too. That’s not necessarily a universal part of our culture.» We learned Spanish by our friend teaching us Greek. The Greek didn’t stick, but the Spanish did!
Thank you for visiting the Norwegian Artist and Liking Chimu.
Learning to accept things as «just the way it is» is one of the most important things to learn when moving/living overseas. For better or worse! 🙂 You are always bienvenido here in Peru!
